You may need a crash course in football console game history, if hearing about all the innovations and improvements that Xbox Madden 10 offers still hasn't moved you. On one hand, it's probably not too cool to say Xbox Madden 10 is great, just because it stands out next to crap from 30 years ago. On the other hand, after a closer examination of the older football video games, it's easier to comprehend why Xbox Madden 10 has been at the center of such unadulterated adulation. Certainly, there was a huge, untapped market for football video games, when the first generation of console games made their debut. But the catch was, the power of the early video game consoles didn't exactly equal the imaginations and desires of those early hardcore gamers, so everyone had to settle for less. If you've ever seen old ads for this one, the creators truly believed that it had "all the excitement" of the real deal. They didn't even try to make those guys look like people. Just needed to get that one off my chest. And if the picture has you cringing, you can only imagine what the gameplay is like.
Characters started flashing and blinking, thanks to the limited memory of the early game consoles and cartridges. Gamers used to the crisp aural sensation of today's games would be stunned by the lack of cool sound here. Again, things like the scrolling screen wouldn't be a required part of any game for a while yet. Soon, the first round of the console wars would begin, and the competition created a football video game of their own. It had made the necessary innovations to make sports video games some serious business - the characters were animated better, without the same graphical setbacks, and this time, there was a scrolling screen, a necessity for football console games. It wasn't there yet, though.
No doubt, it was a real exciting time for hardcore gamers, but there was still a ways to go before football video games would dominate the industry. Several years would pass before that came to pass. Technology had caught up, albeit slightly, to gamers' football desires, to the point where this game has taken on an iconic status for gamers today. For quite a while, this was considered the greatest football video game by the video game world.
Why this went supernova isn't hard to figure out - with actual offensive and defensive strategies, they brought in a new level of realism. This was the ultimate step up in football video games for a long time, so gamers really proclaimed this one the best football game out there, year after year. Today, there's even a new incarnation of the game, and with that is a renewed reverence for it. That being said, as much as everyone digs that one, Xbox Madden 10 is in an entirely different league. It's always great to see how far we, and football video games, have come. We've had a few chuckles, but mocking less advanced games isn't a productive use of our time. You've gotten the point. You have to start somewhere, and those other games did - and Xbox Madden 10 would have never been possible if it weren't for those older football video games.
Xbox Madden 10 is the future of football video games, and the Xbox game community is psyched that the future is looking so bright. The reviewers have spoken, and they're as stoked as the gamers, which is always a cause for celebration. "Realistic and enjoyable" are comments you'll see during most Xbox Madden 10 reviews. EA Sports didn't even come close to fumbling the ball with Xbox Madden 10, that's for sure. There are always going to be the haters, but pay no attention - Xbox Madden 10 rules. Xbox Madden 10 isn't just a great Xbox sports game - it's an all-around great Xbox game. It's the favorite of hardcore gamers, and with good cause. Better still, the true gamers know that this is the arena which will separate the wheat from the chaff, after you play video games for money.
Now, Xbox Madden 10 fanatics can throw down the gauntlet and play games for money. When you've conquered the Xbox Madden 10 playing field, you'll be conquering your rivals - and snagging their cash.
