The first step you need to take when trying to backup PlayStation 2 games is to check if the PS2 game you want to backup will require the DVD-R method or the CD-R method. To check you'll need to look on the side of the disc that is read by the PlayStation 2 gaming console. This side is the side where there is no logo or title and the CD style is purple and the DVD style is silver.
The next step is to download and install a game copier software. Once you download and install the game copier software onto your PC you'll need to insert your PS2 video game into the PC's disc drive.
The software ought to recognize that you inserted the game disc. If it doesn't then you can identify this manually by selecting options. You should see an option for "game disc" in the software.
The next step is to save an image of the disc to your hard drive by identifying the folder where you wish to save the new file under. You want to make sure you don't copy PS2 game discs in read/write mode. You don't want to do this because PS2 video games have too much data to do this in a good amount of time.
What you'll need to do next is put in the appropriate type of blank disc inside the DVD/CD drive of your computer. You will then tell the game copier software to burn an image of the game data you just saved.
